FEED MY STARVING CHILDREN

Do you love our hair nets?! S’cute. This week some of us girls from our faith group did a volunteer opportunity at Feed My Starving Children in Eagan, MN. It was SO much fun! At FMSC the idea is that you hand pack meals that get sent around the world to people that don’t have access to regular meals. The meals are called ‘Nutritious MannaPack Meals’ and they are specifically designed to reverse malnutrition. Each meal has powdered flavorful vitamins, dried carrots and potatoes for flavor and fiber, soy for a protein source (that doesn’t spoil easily), and rice.

Each volunteer has a position in an assembly line and you try to fill as many bags as possible in the hour that you’re there. There were a ton of people there the same time that we were so we were able to crank out enough meals to feed 80 children for one year! That’s incredible! It really makes you think about how you spend your time and the impact that you can make. The meals we packaged were getting shipped off to Haiti to help children in need in that area.

Since there were so many people there at the same time volunteering they had the music blasting and we were all racing to see who could fill up the most boxes! It made it so much fun and there was so much energy in the room. I highly recommend volunteering at a FMSC location for a fun activity to do with friends that can really make an impact around the world.

What are some other volunteer opportunities that you guys have tried? Our faith group is always looking to try new things about once a month!
