We finally got our wedding photos back a couple weeks ago and we have had so much fun looking and reminiscing about our perfect day. Daniel and I got married on October 13, 2017. Yes, Friday the thirteenth, we live on the edge like that. We couldn’t have asked for better fall weather. My whole life I have dreamed about getting married outside in nature, probably because that is where I feel the freshest, and Daniel always imagined the same. But I live in Minnesota so I had to be realistic about it and not get my hopes too high. We are the wild state where we can’t be shocked by a snowstorm in June or scorching temps in November. So, we landed on a venue that could accommodate everyone inside for the ceremony and the reception with some chair rearrangements if need be. But our day ended up being so wonderful outside that it wasn’t even an issue! The sun was beaming through the colorful fall leaves and it was cool enough where Daniel was comfortable in his suit but warm enough where I didn’t have to make frequent trips inside to get warm or carry a blanket with me.
Our venue was Almquist Farm and I highly recommend it to anyone local that is looking for that barn wedding feel. We were only their third wedding ever so when we booked it the reception barn wasn’t even built yet… again, living on the edge. But we trusted them and fell in love with the property on our first visit and we just knew it was right.
We knew when we got engaged that we wanted to have a short engagement so we started venue shopping within the first week to try and score a date that was within 2017. We landed on this venue within ten days of getting engaged and that set the date! Precisely a five month engagement. This really didn’t scare me. If you know me, you know that I am a planner and I enjoy organizing and putting on events. I have waited to find Daniel my whole life and we didn’t want to wait any longer.
I loved the idea of a fall wedding because the fall always feels more rustic with it being hunting season and leaves and pumpkins everywhere. This also meant that I could have the long sleeve gown I always dreamed of! Yay!
They day passed by in a whirlwind of pictures, vows, dancing, and food. But at the end of the day, I had myself a dreamy husband whom I get to spend the rest of my days with and we couldn’t be happier. We had so many people along side us as we planned our special day and we are so grateful. Enjoy some pictures below!
