This post is for all you gals (and some guys too? Maybe?) who work in a cube and need a little inspo to spruce up your digs. I have been at my job with the Minnesota Department of Health for 4 years now. I have pretty much had my little cube decorated the same way the entire time. Which, don’t get me wrong, was cuter than most but I was sick of it and knew it was time for a change.
Since it is only a 6’x6′ space it’s not like I had to spend a lot of money or energy into giving the place a face-life. And since I spend a very good portion of my time in this little
kennel cube I want to make sure it is a pleasant place to be and I think you should do the same. You wouldn’t leave a home office looking dull and dingy would you? No way. So don’t let your cube be all gray and boring either. This is a place that you are supposed to be creative and productive in! Let it be a place that is inspiring and something that brings you joy.
A really easy place to get started is to get some cute printables to hang up. There are so many available online (not to mention, ahem, my Freebies page) just find something that is your style and has colors that you’re into. Stay tuned to the end of the post for a brand new Valentine freebie from me!
Another easy step is to get some life in there. I went to Bachman’s and got one of their “Plants of Steel” for $12.99. Mainly because they do well with florescent light rather than natural light (I see zero windows from where I sit…) but also because historically I have not done well at caring for plants and the lady at the store told me it would be hard to kill. Plants just have a way of freshening up a space and they make your 4 gray walls feel a little less like a cage.
Something else that I did was get some cheap fabric and I covered my tan bulletin board with it. Now I have a pop of color that hides something ugly and coordinates with my printables.
Of course, bringing in photos and frames is another simple step to updating the place as well.
Check out my before-and-after shots below!
^ Confession, these are actually pics from a vacant cube near me.
I highly recommend putting in an effort to the space that you spend SO much time in. It will feel so refreshing!
Finally, head to the Freebies page to download and print this new Valentine printable! Or if you are like me and obsessed with pink, you can keep it out all the time. Either way, enjoy!
