A couple of weeks ago I went to Atlanta, Georgia for a conference for work put on by the CDC. This is the first time I have had the opportunity to do out of state travel for work so I was pretty excited! But this also meant that I wanted to represent my team well down there by being prepared and looking professional. I try to keep my work outfits simple and chic so this allows for the ability to mix and match with ease to and the ability to pack less!
I did a pretty good job about packing my work clothes. I just had a few items that were all in the same color palette which allowed me to mix and match without looking like I had worn some items a couple of times. A good way to do this is to bring different accessories that are bright and fun while pairing them with neutral clothes (black and white for me!). Accessories typically take up less space as well so you can fit more options into your carryon than you could just packing one entirely new outfit. I also try packing simple tops that can double as business wear and casual depending on how you dress it up or dress it down. This makes the transition into the after work hours easier than packing a whole other outfit for the evening.
Normally I bring my personal laptop with me when I travel so that I can keep up with my Etsy shop, the PinkPaintBucket, but I also had to bring my work laptop too! So, luckily they both fit into my briefcase, but this meant that my regular carryon bag plus my briefcase equals ditching my regular purse for the plane. I have a wallet that has a strap so it doubles as a clutch. So, all I really needed to do was take out a couple essentials from my purse and stick them into my briefcase. I brought a spare clutch along just incase I needed to carry something simple around at dinners we went to.
